Wrappin' things up

As deployment to Iraq is just over 2 weeks away (give or take a few days) the 115 MPAD is wrapping up training and getting ready to head to the sandbox. One of the fun things of this past week was the CS (aka tear gas) training. Even though no WMDs were found (repeat - NO WMDs were found. None. Nada. Zero), one never knows. A chemical attack might occur. And as we learned in WW I, those aren't so good. Therefore, the guys got to practice. Step 1: go into the gas chamber. Step 2: remove gas mask. Step 3: put back on mask and clear. If done correctly, there is just a tiny sting from the gas on your face. If you do it wrong, well, tear gas is kind of a misnomer. That is, it does more than just bring a tear to the eye. The exercise is two-fold: 1) to give you confidence in your equipment, 2) if you don't put the mask on clearly during the drill, the non-lethal, but extremely unpleasant consequences hopefully mean you won't mess up if the real deal happens.

That's about all the specifics that have come through, although according to Ed his days are still filled from 5am - 10 pm.
